User Research Community project
Project overview
Through this project, I aim to create a Similarweb community for clients to participate in interviews, surveys, and usability testing. Participants gain early access to beta features, fostering collaboration and refining our products. The purpose of this initiative is to provide Similarweb's UX/UI teams with a diverse user pool to facilitate comprehensive testing.
Challenge
UX Designers at Similarweb require user testing, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing, to inform data-driven decisions in their work. While the team utilizes tools like Mixpanel, Fullstory, and Appcues, they sometimes find these resources insufficient. Specifically, designers lack a dedicated resource when testing specific personas.
Research
In my research, I analyzed competitors' community landing pages and user flows, alongside exploring various online community pages for insights and inspiration. Additionally, I conducted user interviews to develop compelling incentives for users to join Similarweb's community and strategize its offerings effectively.
Through this thorough research and user interviews, I was able to effectively strategize Similarweb's community offerings, ensuring they are tailored to meet the needs and interests of our users.
Solution
I've designed two landing pages tailored for Similarweb users, inviting them to join our "User Research Community." The primary incentive is access to beta features, a key desire I uncovered through my research into dedicated Similarweb users.
For the sign-up process, I've devised two options, each suited to the user's context. If users access the page within the Similarweb platform, they're already identified, and we possess all necessary data – their name, email, company, and other pertinent information required to open a Similarweb account. In such cases, a sign-up button suffices; no additional form is needed.
However, if a user accesses the page incognito or via any means where their account isn't identified, they'll encounter a sign-up form requesting their name and email. This ensures seamless participation in our community, regardless of their browsing context.
Results
The designs are currently in production, and they are not yet available for users to sign up. It is my hope that more than 100 users will sign up so that the product designers will be able to make better data-driven decisions and communicate more effectively with the users.
